Gift Certificate for a trip in 2010
It seems as if every family has a member for whom it's impossible to buy a present. That's where gift certificates come in handy. There are numerous ways to handle them, the most common being for a pre-packaged activity. If you need more flexibility, a dollar amount might work better, and it can be applied to a package of choice. And who knows? Maybe you'll be asked to join in the fun!

Wild TurkeysTurkey Cast and Blast.
About when early season trout fishing picks up, the large Merriam turkey population gets to gobbling. Last year the ranch opened the turkey season to eight hunters who chased several tremendous flocks of birds. Hunters enjoyed a 100% opportunity and a 75% harvest on these birds. If you're looking to hunt a new species or complete a Grand Slam, the opportunity to call a Merriam's turkey to within 20 yards is high. Due to the successful 2009 breeding season, our flocks have nearly doubled in size. For 2010 we'll accept 15 hunters, so come on out! The climate in DeBeque is perfect in April, and the trout are just coming off of their winter hibernation. As a side benefit, you can fish the K-T during pre-run off conditions. Water levels are good, clarity is clear, and the browns and rainbows are hungry.

Wine on the FlyWine on the Fly and Fly Rod & Reel Magazine present a unique fly-fishing and wine tasting event at the renowned Colorado High Lonesome and K-T Ranches.  Join us from July 14-18, 2010 for three days of prime-time fly-fishing and wine tasting. Fish and socialize with some of the best-known editors and writers in the industry as well as some of the premier vintners from the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.  Joe Healy, Associate Publisher of Fly Rod & Reel will discuss fly-fishing and writing with guests, and a special visitor will be John Gierach, the best-selling author in the history of the sport. Lamborn Family Vineyards, StoneFly Vineyards, and Schug Carneros Estate will represent a variety of Cabernets, Zinfandels, Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.  Anglers will experience a western sample and fish the High Lonesome Ranch spring fed ponds, the White River and Spring Creeks at the K-T and a drift boat trip on either the Roaring Fork or the Colorado River. Rooms, meals, ground transportation, and a personally inscribed Winston BII-MX rod are included in the $3200 cost. Space is limited to 25, and over $20,000 in wine will be poured.  For more details visit www.thehighlonesomeranch.com, www.wineonthefly.com, or call 970-283-9420.

FishingK-T as a Stand Alone Fishery
With all build outs complete, we'll offer the K-T as a stand-alone fishing option for 2010. The already terrific ranch has gotten better with the addition of new water. The Lone Tree Spring Creek restoration began in November and will feature 3000 restored feet to include riffles, runs, pools, and the normal undercut banks. The Pearce Bridge beat is a new half-mile of the White River that has runs, riffles and two nice-sized pools.  It's a great section for nymphing, and you'll find Blue-winged olives, midges, and several colors of caddis, PMD's, and terrestrials. The Pearce Bridge beat adjoins a hay field so the hoppers in July and August are thick, especially when a strong gust of wind hits. The already terrific water just got better. For more information on fishing the K-T, please give us a call.

RaiderWing Shooting Expansion Complete
Several guests said, "Your new Promatic Huntsman Flurry trap has created some clays addicts!  We prefer to bird hunt than shoot clays, but we could see ourselves going through several cases of shells out here!" The trap is designed to throw between 20 and 60 clay targets per minute! Shooters are stationed in pegs at the base of a hill and take high overhead shots at between 65-70 yards. It's a perfect warm up for our driven shoots and a lot of fun for even our discriminating shooters. Combine it with the Pheasant and Quail Walks and our 5-Stand and you'll have a great warm up.

Bird hunters loved hunting over Cool, Chili and Bell, our new English pointers. And they also loved hunting for five species of birds. The kennel project is now complete, and we even rebuilt the kennel behind the Pond House for hunters who bring they own dogs.

R. Owens
"This was one of the best wing shooting experiences I have had and I have hunted all over the world!"

D. Brown
"My son and I had a multi-day cast and blast visit to HLR, and it more than lived up to its advance billing. A truly magnificent piece of land with incredible, dedicated staff to make for a wonderful visit."
