K-T Guest Ranch
Come for a night, come for a week, come for a month. Whether you’re in Meeker on business or visiting for pleasure, come spend the night in the comfort of an expertly restored, original Meeker homestead. The K-T Ranch is open for nine months of the year. The four bedrooms can be easily configured to accommodate four couples in king beds or 6 singles in twin beds. The K-T functions as a world-class fly-fishing lodge. The ranch is endorsed by Vermont’s prestigious Orvis Company and recognized as one of the outstanding fly-fishing venues in the nation. Every guide is certified through the Orvis program as a fly-casting instructor, and a full-rental program is available with the best Orvis rod outfits, waders, and accessories, terminal tackle and gadgets. Fishing and lodging packages can be booked directly at the K-T Ranch. Or, enjoy the best of both worlds and combine your visit to Meeker with a stay at our parent property, The High Lonesome Ranch near DeBeque, Colorado. After a K-T stay fishing the trout river, spring creeks, and beaver ponds, you’ll find a wide variety of equestrian, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, and wildlife viewing activities at The High Lonesome Ranch. Fishing and wing shooting are an integral part of life at HLR, too. Whether you choose to visit just the K-T or to also spend a few days at The High Lonesome Ranch, we guarantee you’ll have a fabulous time.
Dining
Our chef prepares every part of your meal from scratch, and most ingredients are grown or raised locally. Breakfasts are hearty and could carry most folks throughout the entire day. From classic eggs and bacon and toast made from homemade bread, to fresh baked goods direct from our kitchen to healthy homemade granola and fresh fruit or doughnuts made from scratch, we’ll start your day in style. Blueberry pancakes with Vermont Maple Syrup is a house specialty as are the endless cups of coffee and the assortment of juices.
Sometimes lunch is held in the shade of the screened veranda, other times it is held out in the sun. Sandwiches with fresh garden lettuce and tomatoes, potato or pasta salad, and cookies or cobblers are featured on the menu. The BBQ pit is easily fired up for bison burgers with blue cheese and bacon. All of our breads and desserts are made from scratch daily.
Cocktail hour is held on the veranda. Enjoy a glass of wine from one of the 19 local vineyards. Dinner is a sumptuous affair. There are the famous Palisade peaches, and most of the vegetables and herbs are garden grown. The Meeker area is well known for its excellent locally-raised meats, with Angus beef, free-range chickens, pork and lamb as the staples. Produce comes from local farmers and ranchers, Sweet Corn from Olathe, tomatoes, and others.
Accommodations
The four-bedroom, 4200 square foot restored ranch house was built in the 1880’s and is one of the few remaining homestead properties in Meeker. From the mountain vistas in the background to the corrals in the foreground you will find peace and quiet to rejuvenate your soul. After a long day, not much beats the comfort of a leather couch. If our trout haven’t thoroughly tired you out, how about a glass of wine with a game of Gin Rummy or Backgammon? Or a movie viewed on our big flatscreen TV in the media room? When you’re ready for the Sand Man, you’ll sleep in comfort in one of our four guestrooms. Bed arrangements are easily changed from a king to two twins, whatever configuration best suits your group.
