There are a number of reasons people come to Meeker. Nearby are several access points to the 235,000-acre Flat Tops Wilderness, the 2nd largest in Colorado. Here, there are tremendous opportunities for horseback riding, backpacking, and hiking on over 50 miles of trails. After all, there are 280 miles of trails. Meeker Events
There are three major events in Meeker. The 4th of July Range Call Celebration is the town’s rodeo. Then there is the Meeker Sheep Dog Championship Classic, which features sheep dogs from all over the country competing for a variety of prizes. Don’t forget the Smoking River Pow Wow, which celebrates a healing of the Milk Creek Incident, the last U.S. military and Native America battle fought during Westward Expansion.
