Dude Ranch Season 2012 opens under wide blue skies at The High Lonesome Ranch
The grand season opener brought out the very best in everyone. The horses, their enthusiastic wranglers, and rodeo-star Equestrian Director Ame Longwell led the show. The 5-star guest services team and their inspirational leader, the charismatic General Manager Scott Stewart made it all happen seamlessly. The brilliant Executive Chef Jordan Asher, the beautiful and talented Sous Chef Veronica Rademacher, the legendary Aunt Linda with her equally legendary breakfasts kept us very, very happy. And yes, even the weather added to the shine. The 23 guest participants included families, 5 travel writers from across the country, mother and daughter teams, children of travel writers, and even a 3-generation family. The equestrian experience levels were as varied as the guests. One participant is itching to come back next summer as a wrangler and one’s prior experience included just sitting a saddle.
Epic Early Season Fishing on the White River
Mother Nature can be a fickle girl at times, but this time she was kind to the folks along the West Slope of the Rockies - especially in Colorado. Spring settled in early this year throughout the West and the fisheries along the West Slope benefitted tremendously from an unusually light snowpack. This in turn all but eliminated the traditional spring blowouts. The waters are running clear and the fishing is on fire.

SUNDERLAND, VT (April 2012) - The Orvis Company has recognized Buzz Cox of The High Lonesome Ranch with the 2012 Orvis Lifetime Achievement Award.
2012 Aspen Food and Wine Festival
Executive Chef Jordan Asher and Sous Chef Veronica Rademacher are heading out this week to participate in the 30th anniversary of the world famous Aspen Food and Wine Festival, June 15-17. All of the big, bold and beautiful network culinary personalities will be in attendance and Jordan and Veronica will serve them - along with the thousands of other foodies who make their pilgrimage to the top of the gastronomical mountain. As Bobby Flay says, "Anyone who is anyone in the food business will be here this week." Grab a glass of wine and head for the white tents. Look for them in the Grand Tasting Pavilion right behind some of the best bites the event has to offer.
