Dining
A word of warning:
bring a healthy appetite.
As a guest of The High Lonesome Ranch, you’ll enjoy three squares a day, but rest assured, this is no ordinary fare. Every meal is served at shared tables, which allows guests to come together at least once a day to talk about your battle with a monster fish, encounter with a mule deer or exploits chasing birds.
Specialties of the house, with a little inspiration from Louisiana.
Breakfast is hot and hearty, featuring some of the Southern cooking delicacies of the ranch’s own Aunt Linda Doden and her staff: scrumptious blueberry pancakes, homemade muffins, breads and pastries, all made from scratch. Throw in some eggs with her homemade salsa, a little sausage and a cup of specially blended, rich, robust coffee, and you’re ready for a day in the field. Of course, those who thrive on lighter fare can just as easily choose a simple breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt and granola.
Staving off hunger in style.
A deliciously fresh lunch, complete with dessert, is served each day in the main lodge or streamside—it all depends on the activities planned for the day. The desserts are amazing, if we do say so ourselves.
At the end of the day—wow.
Dinner at the ranch is a casual affair, but just try and tell that to your taste buds. Texas Chef Jordan Asher is at the helm in the evenings, bringing culinary mastery and innovative contemporary ranch cuisine to the table. Imagine sensational dishes like Panko Bay Scallops on Salsa, Smoked Beef Carpaccio Salad, and Fried Quail on Spicy Southernn Gumbo. In keeping with the ideals of our entire culinary team, Jordan prefers to let indigenous, seasonal ingredients from local farms and ranches inspire his stunning creations. He often chooses to grill outdoors where guests can watch, talk and participate as they sip private-label wines and stargaze.
All this being said, please let us know if you have special dietary requirements. Jordan and his team will whip up something you’ll hardly believe can be good for you.
